Float Forward – Dream Glue (Music Video)

The chillingly ethereal atmosphere of Float Forward’s music is all encompassing. The bands new music video is equally as engaging. Shadow puppets and magazine clippings dancing in front of a backdrop of deep space. We can’t think of a better way to describe their music. The 4-piece has a new EP out entitled Hot Things Make Shadows. Watch the video below. And make sure to check the Lost Coast Avenger calendar for updates on the group’s upcoming shows.

Interview with Hudson Glover!

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 6.04.56 PM
A couple of months ago I was approached by a strange electronic musician to play our first annual block fest. Being a local and having never heard any of his shows being advertised I was quite skeptical. I was astonished by his music; my whole body tingled with goose bumps. I couldn’t believe that a musician of this caliber wanted to join my tiny event. This was the first thing on that album that I                                                                                    had heard:

UPDATE** GNOME RANGER frontman Christian Hower starts new project, new lineup

Christian Hower and J.R. Perez are two veterans of the Humboldt music scene, with the latter actually being a native of the area. The two played together in the power-pop trio Gnome Ranger, which was disbanded and restructured into their new group Dot Com Dot Com. Although they’ve only been around for a few months, and they haven’t released any recordings yet, the band is already drawing attention for their energetic live shows. After days of working nonstop on their debut EP, Christian and J.R. sat down with me at my apartment to listen to some jazz music and talk about guitar tech, analog equipment, and the joys of drinking Pabst and writing bad R’n’B songs.

Colleen Green (LOS ANGELES)
[EXPERIMENTAL STONER POP PUNK]
“I Want to Grow Up, the latest collection of songs from LA songstress Colleen Green, follows a newly 30-year-old Green as she carefully navigates a minefield of emotion. Her firm belief in true love is challenged by the inner turmoil caused by entering modern adulthood, but that doesn’t mean that her faith is defeated. ”

Upset (LOS ANGELES)

INTERVIEW with Christian Hower of Gnome Ranger

The Lost Coast Crew got together to chat with the talented mind behind Gnome Ranger celebrating their upcoming EP release on Plastic Jurassic. The following meeting took place on a mid-February night after shambling around looking for Christian’s place. 1488975_1394550384148552_1715623327_nAdmist are topics of arrogant Jim Morrison, clichés ofclichés, and a briefmention of an upcoming vinyl release of Gnome Ranger’s currently unnamed ep (being released through Plastic Jurassic). I transcribed the following from a handheld recorder that Benji operated. Christian’s apartment was simple and appropriately strewn with clothes, recording equipment, a small painting from a recently passed away, reclusive uncle in Arizona, and musical instruments (bass, guitar, mini synth, and other necessities). I’m sitting on a drummers throne, Benji is seated on the floor, and Christian is lounging in a black rolling chair when the recording button presses play. Benji and Christian have known each other previous to this meeting, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. His roommate is playing Salad Days in the other room.

Interview with DREAMLAND creator: Ryan James Coyle

11001074_537288779746330_478418859_o

Ryan James Coyle is the genius behind one of the coolest touring Flea Markets around! Apart from writing music for his band The Zermatts, Coyle has been investing time and effort into his first child, Dreamland. Coyle ensures a good time, every time, in his growing in popularity pop-up event providing communities with some of the coolest local and touring artists around.  What is Dreamland, you may ask? Well it’s the one and only touring night time flea market and rock and roll parties of it’s kind!  After 10 consecutive years of throwing Dreamland events in Los Angeles, Coyle finally brought Dreamland to Arcata.

Coyle is bringing it back again this April 2nd, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building, with headliners Tomorrows Tulips:
